1919 – British Chartered Electrical Engineer Herbert Fenton founded Fentons Limited at Union Place
1921 – With growing demand for electrical engineering services, Fentons was
registered as a limited liability company
1943 – Following Herbert Fenton’s retirement, the management of the company was
handed over to a local team
1977 – Fentons embarks on a major diversification drive,
moving into the electronic and telecommunications fields,
partnering with NEC Corporation Japan
2001 – Establishment of Energynet Pvt Ltd
2011 – Embarking into the renewable energy industry, Fentons Solar
Energy was established which focuses on providing solar services
2012 – Fentons Smart Facilities (Pvt) Ltd, was introduced focusing on maintenance and
facilities management services
2016 – Hayleys PLC acquires 75% equity stake of Fentons Limited after 70+
years from Abayratne family ownership.
2018 – Fentons Limited launched its SPIDER strategy Business transfer of Hayleys Electronics to Fentons Limited
2019 – With the acquisition of 99.97% of the equity stake by Hayleys PLC, Fentons Limited was re-branded as Hayleys Fentons
Fentons Solar Energy was re-branded as Hayleys Solar, and the business was transferred from Energynet (Pvt) Ltd to Hayleys Fentons.
2020 – Hayleys Electronics became a fully-owned subsidiary of Fentons
2021 – Fentons Limited introduced its new logo
